Description: The September 13th MSQC Collaborative Meeting will bring together surgeons and nurses from across the state of Michigan to hear presentations from speakers on a variety of topics that will address knowledge gaps.


Expected Results: After completing this activity participants will be able to…

  • Apply knowledge gained from learning how MSQC is improving after reviewing data on breast cancer measures.

  • Explain MRI indications in newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.

  • Apply techniques for reducing re-excisions after lumpectomy.

  • Demonstrate how to reduce axillary surgery in older women.

  • Illustrate the benefits of viewing hernia case videos and apply best practices to improve surgical technical skill and prevent hernia complications.

  • Demonstrate the benefits of utilizing a risk calculator to predict postoperative complications.

  • Apply knowledge gained from smoking cessation, colorectal, urinary catheter, preoperative testing, frailty, and equity dashboard updates.

  • View poster boards from various sites and apply best practices.
