Racism is a public health issue. As healthcare leaders in the state of Michigan, MSQC acknowledges that it has not done enough to combat the negative impact of racism within surgical care.
We commit to review all of our work through an anti-racist lens, including but not limited to: the diversity of our leadership, staff, and advisory committees; the data we collect, measure and report; the quality improvement projects we design and lead; and most importantly the improved patient outcomes we strive for.
We also co-sign the CQI Joint Statement on Healthcare Disparities & Racism which can be read here.
We welcome your stories and advice on this critical work.
