Friends,
We want to put your MSQC data to work!
During our collaborative meeting, I gave two examples of clinical questions that we answered with MSQC data:
Do patients who receive non-β lactam antibiotics (presumably because they have a penicillin allergy) have a higher rate of SSI
Is there an increase in surgical complications during flu season?
The answers are yes and no. Yes, we did find a higher rate of SSI with non-β lactam antibiotics in colectomy patients. And, no, we did not find an association between surgical complication rate and flu season. (Video from meeting here). In the spirit of our learning organization, we want to learn from the questions that are most important to you.
If you have a clinical question, we would like to help you answer it using the MSQC data. If you have analytic support, request a data set at this hyperlink: Data Request Form If you would like us to analyze the data, write us MSQCCustomerSupport@med.umich.edu or me directly at krapohlg@med.umich.edu.
If you have a clinical question related specifically to health disparities and surgical outcomes, we will have a graduate student from the University of Michigan School of Public Health working on a fellowship with us this summer (funded through the Institute for Healthcare Policy & Innovation). She has an interest in this area and would be willing to help you with your inquiry. We look forward to receiving your questions.
You have put a lot of work into collecting MSQC data- now let that data work for you!
