Surgery and Population Health-Redesigning Surgical Quality for Greater Impact

Posted on September 17, 2020.

In a new Viewpoint for JAMA Surgery, MSQC Director Michael Englesbe lays out a vision for modernizing surgical quality improvement metrics:

“In Michigan, we have optimized surgical care through a decade of coordinated efforts across payers, hospitals, and practitioners. As we approach the flat part of the improvement curve, especially for elective surgical care, we aspire to go beyond existing metrics. ”
